Alia Thomson-Brown (b. 1999) is a Toronto-based abstract artist whose work explores the relationship between texture, light, and emotion. Through sculptural layers of polymer, acrylic and oil paint, she creates original pieces that evolve throughout the day, revealing new details as light moves across their surface.

For Alia, a painting is never simply something to hang on a wall. It becomes part of the atmosphere of a home. It catches the morning sun, softens a space, sparks conversation, and quietly becomes woven into everyday life.

Although she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Queen's University and later studied Event Management and Creative Design at Seneca College, art has always been the thread connecting every stage of her life. What began as childhood drawings gradually became a lifelong practice of translating feeling into form through painting.

Each work begins without a predetermined outcome. Layers are built, scraped back, and rebuilt until the work feels complete, guided as much by intuition as intention. Because of this process, every original is entirely one of a kind.

Alia's mission is to make original art feel approachable and deeply personal.

"I don't want people to simply own a painting, I want them to live with it. My hope is that years from now, they'll still discover something new each time they walk past it."

Inspired by contemporary interiors, natural materials, and the beauty found in imperfect surfaces, Alia creates work that complements modern spaces while offering a sense of warmth, calm, and permanence.
